Tackling The Income Inequality Problem
December 24, 2021
We wanted to bring up a topic that is near, dear, and definitely concerning to us, and that topic is, people being able to make livable incomes. It is really intense knowing that so many people are struggling and not making livable incomes. So, before we get right into this, have you heard people discussing the topic of universal basic income (UBI)? If so, with everything going on in our world, and all polarization, do you see UBI on the horizon at any time soon? Okay, so it is somewhat safe to say that we won’t be seeing UBI in the near future. So what do we do? How do we solve this problem? And how do we find efficient ways for people to make livable incomes? Can technology solve this problem?
Okay, so let us ask another question. If everyone was making a moderately successful livable income, what do you think that would do for economies? Do you think software as a service (SaaS) companies would be able to sell their premium services easier? So, the reality is, if everyone was doing good, making a livable income, then everybody would be doing good.
We think that income inequality is right up there with the biggest problems facing humanity. It is this kind of issue that inspired us to launch 9human.co and the podcast Humanity In The Loop. We believe if a technology company tackles the income inequality problem with even a moderate amount of success, it could be one of the largest technologies in the world. Us vocalizing this can only be a positive thing. If we light a fire, or create incentive for individuals or companies to pursue developing products or services with the intent to solve the income inequality problem, again, that is only positive.
What if ten companies build ten different products that focus on this problem and become successful? Once again, that is only positive. We realize this type of company and accomplishment is going to take innovative business models, product development, team building, and company building to achieve. The thing is, if we do not open the door to a conversation about solving big problems, how will they get solved? For communication we have amazing tools at our fingertips: phones, email, messaging, and video calling. But there is still communication breakdown and problems that are not being addressed. In the description of our podcast, we say we free fall into technology, startups, and business with the hope that no one gets left behind. Everything that we have discussed feeds into this, because if people aren't making livable incomes, they could be on their way to getting left behind. This is a deep problem facing humanity going forward and we hope you support us bringing it up.
